    ZERO TOLERANCE FOR NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR AT AN EVENT

    Keeping sports simple.

    Due to the enormous increase in unacceptable and too often violent behavior that is taking place at youth sporting events and elsewhere across this nation. A Step Up Sports, along with several other leaders in our industry have upgraded their existing policies or adopted new ones to help defeat this vial scourge. A Step Up Sports since its inception has requested that our fans behave as guests at our events. So now, as in the past our staff will be as cordial as always but at any sign of negative behavior law enforcement will be notified.

    POLICIES

    PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

    Abusive, obscene, ideologically charged language, threats, violent actions on or off the court, inside or outside the facility and any other inappropriate behavior( including, but not limited to taunting, harassment or bullying will not and must not be tolerated during the execution of any A Step Up Sports events.

    Coaches Conduct Standards

    1. Coaches and all non-players on the bench or subject to the Coaches Conduct Rules and Standards detailed in NFHS sports rules, unless otherwise noted.

    2.We believe it is the coach's responsibility to exhibit and promote respect for the game officials and should be the first to respond to his or  hers out of control spectator.

    ​

    3. Coaches should confine their discussions about rule interpretations with their coaching staff. This should never be done with officials or opposing coaches and their staff.

    Spectator Conduct Standard

    1. No Spectator shall persistently negatively engage verbally with a game official at any point of A Step Up Sports event.

    ​

    2. No Spectator shall make derogatory remarks to players of any team.

    ​

    3. Spectators will not discuss disputed calls during the event or during the post-game wrap-up.

    ​

    4. Spectators shall NEVER yell criticisms, sarcasms, harassment, intimidation or disparaging remarks at officials during or after the event has terminated.

    ​

    Allowable reasons to engage verbally with officials:

    ​

    1. The spectator may respond to an official who has initiated a conversation with a parent or attendee.

    ​

    2. Spectators may inform officials or event staff of an emergency or safety issues, such as a player injury or an incident that requires facility or event staff's involvement.
